Hypnotic Healing Is All In The Mind.
For hundreds of years hypnosis has been used a medical aid and for pain relieve. Although it suffered a loss of credibility with the dawning of the scientific age it is science that is now once again reviving it!
Even though conventional medical thinking relegated hypnosis to nothing more than a stage act it is now considered a unique and fast solution for many medical problems by the medical profession today. In the United Kingdom hypnosis is available on the NHS. In America research has shown that hypnosis is very effective for quitting smoking and in France hypnotherapists, under laboratory conditions, found that they could lower a patient's blood pressure!
Over the years hypnosis has been portrayed, in the media, films and television, as an evil tool used for evil ends. Films especially tend to show hypnosis in a bad light with hypnotists having evil or selfish motives for using it. Hollywood has even made many people believe that hypnosis can be used to brain-wash unsuspecting victims into committing crimes and even murder! Hypnosis cannot be used in any of these ways and a person can never be forced to go against their morals or values through the use of hypnosis!
That being said, hypnosis is an extremely powerful tool for inner change. Providing a person gives their full consent to the process and desire change then almost any internal change can be made!
No one knows how hypnosis works. How it has the ability to have such profound effects on the mind and body remains elusive to researchers. However, its effectives are obvious!
A hypnotic state is one of relaxed concentration where the body and mind are at ease but the focus is heightened.
Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state that we all enter into throughout the day. When you listen to a piece of music that captures your full attention, or you read an enjoyable book that engages your imagination you are experiencing a form of self hypnosis! The same is true when you are watching television.
While under the influence of hypnosis there are very real and measurable brainwave changes with corresponded changes in the body. A hypnotic state will change our everyday brainwaves form Beta to Alpha. Alpha is a state of relaxed focused attention and it during this state that impressions, suggestions or commands can be passed directly to the subconscious part of the mind. The hypnosis Alpha state also gives access to the subconscious mind and its vast storehouse of information. This makes hypnosis an excellent tool for psychological change and healing.
Because it is the subconscious part of our mind that regulates the body it has been found that hypnosis can be used on some physical ailments as a means for speeding the recovery process also.
Researchers at Harvard Medical School found that they could reduce inflammation, pain and scarring using hypnosis. In addition trials showed that when hypnosis was used on patients with broken bones their healing times were reduced by three weeks compared to patients you used just conventional methods!
The more conventional medical uses of Hypnosis are psychological. The ability to access stored memories and emotions in the subconscious mind make it an ideal tool for the treatment of psychological disorders. It was in the late 50's when the American Psychiatric Association approved its use for therapy and although not all followed their example immediately it is well established now.
Not only can hypnosis be used for physical healing but it is also successfully employed as an aid for psychological healing. Disorders that stem from stress, depression and even phobias have been treated with great success using hypnosis. In addition it has become very popular with those people interested in personal development.
Research continues on a daily basis into the uses of and effectiveness of Hypnosis so who can tell what other benefits may be uncovered.
